Q: I want to have a gate collection.
What do I do and are there guidelines to follow?
A: Gate collections are permitted in following of the below guidelines.
U.A.W. 1268 GATE COLLECTION GUIDELINES

1.
All gate collections must be for a U.A.W. Local 1268 member or their:
spouse, parent, stepparent, grandparent, or great grandparent, parent
,stepparent, grandparent or great grandparent of current spouse, child
or stepchild, grandchild, brother, sister, stepbrother, step-sister,
half-brother or half-sister.
2.
Any member who wishes to request a gate collection, for themselves or
others, must make a request at the monthly membership meeting under “New
Business”. If in the event there is a cancellation of said membership
meeting (summer months) then the Executive Board may make a decision.
3.
You must make your own leaflets stating the purpose of the gate
collection. Leaflets MUST be approved by one of the top four
officers of the Local Union (President, Vice President, Financial
Secretary or Recording Secretary) in advance. Copies can be made at the
Local Union Hall.
4.
You are responsible for finding your own volunteers to man the gates.
NO LOST TIME OR UNION BUSINESS WILL BE GIVEN. (Exception to include
up to two late arrivals to complete responsibilities associated with
collection)
5.
You must pick up and return all of the collection boxes from/to the
Local Union Hall (between shifts as well if applicable). Office hours
are 8am-4:30 p.m.
6.
All monies will be receipted at the Local Union Hall following bank
confirmation (the day following gate collections) and checks for monies
collected will be available the Wednesday following the gate collection.
7.
DATES MUST BE PRE-APPROVED TO PREVENT MULTIPLE COLLECTIONS.
